Continuing our investment in employee wellness, Amazon is announcing the Neighborhood Health Center Pilot Program with Crossover Health to establish local, convenient health centers near Amazon fulfillment centers and operations facilities across the country. The first Neighborhood Health Center is available to employees and their families in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, home to more than 20,000 Amazonians, including 11,000 operations employees.

Crossover Health is a national medical group that works with employers to connect every employee—in headquarters or in dispersed locations—to an integrated care team that delivers comprehensive primary care to the whole family.

Through this initial phase of the program, Amazon expects to establish 20 health centers in five cities across the U.S., improving access and care for more than 115,000 associates and their families in in Phoenix, Arizona; Louisville, Kentucky; Detroit, Michigan; the San Bernardino-Moreno Valley area in California, and the Dallas-Fort Worth location. If the pilot is successful, Amazon will look to roll out similar facilities in other cities and states.

“Across the U.S., an increasing number of patients do not have easy access to a primary care physician and instead utilize emergency or urgent care options, which is not only more expensive for patients, but also overlooks important preventative care opportunities,” said Darcie Henry, Amazon’s vice president of Human Resources. “We want to solve that for our employees, and the launch of these new Neighborhood Health Centers will provide a range of quality primary care services for employees across the country—further strengthening Amazon’s industry-leading benefits program, which provides comprehensive health care for employees starting on day one of employment.”

The new Neighborhood Health Centers build on Amazon’s long-standing commitment to offer employees comprehensive and industry-leading benefits, beginning on day one.

Industry-leading benefits
We’re proud to offer full-time employees best-in-class benefits and comprehensive healthcare, including a minimum wage of $15 an hour, full health, dental, and vision insurance for all full-time employees starting on their first day at Amazon, and a 401(k) program with 50 percent company match.

Parental leave and family care
We know many of our employees support their families, which is why we offer 20 weeks paid parental leave, infertility and adoption benefits, and a flexible Ramp Back Program and Leave Share Program that allows employees to share their paid leave with their spouse or partner. In addition, we recently announced a new family care benefit through Care.com available to 650,000 full and part-time Amazon and Whole Foods Market employees in the U.S. This benefit will provide each employee up to 10 days of subsidized emergency backup child or adult care between now and October 2, with a co-pay of only $25 per day for in-center childcare or $5 per hour for in-home child or adult care. Amazon will cover more than 90 percent of the cost of the service, and is investing several million dollars to offer this new benefit over the next few months.

Career Choice
The company also offers an innovative Career Choice Program, which pre-pays 95 percent of tuition, fees, and textbook costs for courses related to in-demand fields such as aircraft mechanics, computer support specialists, and nursing. Since the program’s launch in 2012, more than 25,000 employees in 14 countries have pursued degrees in the most popular fields of study including information technology, mechanical and skilled trades, and transportation to name a few. We understand that a job at Amazon might be a step towards a long-term career in another field. We want to make it easier for employees to make that choice and pursue their aspirations. It is the right thing to do; skilled talent is in need and we are proud to invest in our employees’ futures outside of Amazon. Amazon Career Choice is one of the many training programs offered through our Upskilling 2025 pledge with over $700 million investment to support our employees as they gain critical skills to move into higher skilled, technical or non-technical roles.

Diversity & Inclusion
In addition to offering industry-leading benefits, we are continually working to foster and strengthen our culture of inclusion. We have 12 employee-led affinity groups, reaching 40,000 employees in over 190 chapters globally. These employee groups host annual and ongoing learning experiences, including Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences. Our focus on diversity and inclusion led us to be independently recognized as one of the best places to work on Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index and LinkedIn’s Top Companies; In addition, Amazon has been recognized on the NAACP Equity, Inclusion, and Empowerment Index and the Disability Equality Index. In 2019, Amazon received the American Foundation for the Blind Helen Keller Achievement Award. Read more about building an inclusive culture at Amazon.
